*sniff* - It's the end of an era, as Matt Smith and the 11th Doctor depart in "The Time of the Doctor".  John & Will talk about this bittersweet Christmas episode - what worked well, what worked less so, etc.  What kind of answers did we get to the open questions of the 11th's era?  How much will we miss Matt Smith (so much that we'll be doing more episodes on him in the future)?

We started this podcast with Matt's first full episode, and now his time is over.  But we'll ALWAYS remember the time when the Doctor was MATT SMITH.  He's OUR DOCTOR.

Also, in honor of Matt (& Peter Capaldi), we have 11 rounds of trivia... plus one for Regeneration's Sake!  Won't you listen?  Thanks!

MUTTER'S SPIRAL wraps up the journey through SHERLOCK Series 2 with discussion of "The Hounds of Baskerville" & "The Reichenbach Fall".  We focus mostly on The Fall and the epic battle between Sherlock & Moriarity - The FINAL Problem!  How did Sherlock survive the fall?  We advance some ideas (although I INCORRECTLY state that you don't see Sherlock hit the ground - WE do, but WATSON doesn't).  Come join us for talk, speculation and trivia!

SHERLOCK is returning in the new year... and we never got around to doing Season 2... so, here it is!  We start off with a typically brief 2 hour podcast on the Season 2 lid-lifter, "A Scandal in Belgravia".  Irene Adler!  Moriarty!  Mycroft!  Deerstalker hats!  More Sherlock easter eggs than you can fit in Mrs. Hudson's fridge!  We both LOVE this story, so we give it the full MSP going over.  Plus, Trivia!

NOTE:  This was actually recorded in JULY.  We just ended up holding off the release until closer to the S3 premiere.  Well, the time is now!  Please take a listen!

Coleman!  Moffat! Georgia Tennant! BARROWMAN!) in the delightful confection "The Five-ish Doctors: Reboot".  Tears and laughs abound as we discuss what we enjoyed AND learned from both of these anniversary "gifts" to fans.  We'll also cover some other Who-related media (Brian Cox special, BBC 3 after party) and Sherlock news, and there's of course trivia - even questions going in both directions this week!  Please take a listen!

Excitement abounds through the WHO-niverse as PETER CAPALDI ("Fires of Pompeii", "Torchwood: Children of Earth", "The Thick of It", "Local Hero", "In the Loop", even an Oscar for short film "Franz Kafka's 'It's a Wonderful Life'") takes over the TARDIS at Christmas this year!

Join John & Will as they talk about the selection, how they feel, how they think various parts of fandom will react and even how this is Steven Moffat casting as close to himself as he can as the Doctor!  There's lots of banter and excitement combined with reassurance for any fans that either haven't gone through regeneration before, or who anticipated a different choice as #12.

Take a listen to find out our views on Peter Capaldi!

Matt Smith's leaving Doctor Who, and Mutter's Spiral Podcast is awash in speculation, wishcasting and left-field scenarios for the Fall of the Eleventh and the subsequent regeneration into the TWELFTH.  Will has several out-of-the-box ideas, starting with JENNA4DOCTOR12 - Jenna Coleman becomes the 12th Doctor.  He continues with 2 variations of a TENNANT SCENARIO that would lead to the return of David Tennant to the TARDIS.

John then leads us through the various contenders mentioned in the press, and he very cogently and smartly sums up what is needed in the next Doctor.  After he details the names everyone's saying, he then comes through with two GREAT "out there" ideas, including one so diabolical that it's worthy of Steven Moffat himself.

You'll have to listen all the way through to hear them - in all, it's an hour of Doctor Who chat and speculation.  Take a listen and also - tell us what YOU think!  Who's your choice for the next Doctor?

MUTTER'S SPIRAL Podcast returns for more Doctor Who Series 7b discussion.  It's been a week since the finale, how do John & Will feel about it now that it's "sunk in"?  Will just re-watched it all today - did he glean anything new?  John has a LOT of unanswered questions - what are they, and when (and if) do we think they'll be answered?  Where do we think Matt Smith ranks in the pantheon of Doctors?    Listen and find out!  There's some really good discussion on here, so please join us!

It's another MUTTER'S SPIRAL Podcast, this time talking about the monumental Series 7 finale "The Name of the Doctor", written by Steven Moffat himself.

Did the episode live up to the hype?  Was it a satisfying conclusion to the mystery of who is Clara?  What IS the Doctor's greatest secret?  How will that play out in the 50th?  How many times can one person use the adjective "Lovely" during a podcast?  Also, trivia, talk of the upcoming podcasts during the hiatus, and lots of other stuff!  Ok, not really, it's all about "The Name of the Doctor"!  Listen and find out!

The day has nearly arrived - the DOCTOR WHO Series 7b Finale, where we learn "The Name of the Doctor" AND all about Clara's deal.

SO, it's time to speculate, theorize, hypothesize, guess, and finally throw our hands up in exasperation but also exultation at the mysteries Steven Moffat have devised.

John has a good solid theory, one even Will thinks is more likely to be true.  Will has a more fanciful and longer term one (includes 50th WAG).

Includes discussion of "She Said, He Said", the prologue to the finale as well as bringing in clues from the various trailers for the episode, information from the Doctor Who novels (we BOTH mine that for theory support), and even hints and tidbits from the Moff, Matt, Jenna, et al!

If you want some speculation and theories to help you solidify your own theory, take a listen!

If you want to laugh at some bad guesses (most likely), take a listen!

We recorded this on Monday, and since then, I've thought, "Oh, I'm even LESS Close than I thought", then I felt "Hey, i MIGHT be onto something!", then I realized that again Moffat is several moves ahead of us on the chessboard... as usual!

PS - No trivia on this episode.
